The Precision PCx Point-of-Care System is a portable whole-blood testing
system which represents a significant advance in near-patient glucose testing. Featuring
an easy-to-use ergodynamic design, the Precision PCx is engineered to provide
quick, accurate results while offering powerful data management and security features.
The Precision PCx requires just 3.5 microliters of whole blood to provide
accurate results within 20 seconds. The system is designed with features to ensure the
accuracy and integrity of test data, including; an audible signal which tells the operator
that an adequate sample has been provided; automatic initiation of the test procedure once
a sample has been detected; and laser barcode scanning for all data entry, which
eliminates manual entry errors. Patient results are displayed on an easy-to-read, backlit
LCD screen. Results for up to 4000 tests can be stored in the monitor itself, and can be
easily retrieved for review.
The Precision PCx monitor also features a data port and an optional docking
station, which can be used to automatically download these results, via MediSenses Precision
NET, to the Laboratory Information System (LIS) or Hospital Information System (HIS).
The data port can also be used to establish bi-directional communication between the Precision
meters and the laboratory and nursing PCs. These data management capabilities can help a
hospital realize faster data availability, better quality control, improved staff and
patient management and more effective billing.
Precision PCx test strips use MediSenses advanced biosensor technology
to provide glucose results from 20 to 600 milligrams per deciliter across a 20 to 70
percent hematocrit range. Each PCx test strip package features a barcode label
which holds the calibration information about the test strip, including the lot number,
the expiration date and expected control solution ranges. |
