A compact affordable system

Experience counts

The name Philips Medical Systems is associated world wide with diagnostic imaging equipment which includes X-ray, CT, MRI and Color-flow Doppler systems. Philips Medical Systems now brings this expertise to the portable ultrasound market with a new compact affordable system, the SD 100.

The powerful portable

The SD 100 is designed to travel. Weighing only 9 Kg and battery or mains operated, the SD 100 is nevertheless a full featured ultrasound system with a comprehensive software package, 9 inch monitor, digital output and built-in diskette for image storage.
The SD 100 is also designed to accept a choice of seven linear and convex, single and dual frequency probes, suitable for abdominal, small-parts and endocavity studies.

A true office system

Back in the office, a cart and standard PC keyboard transform the light-weight portable SD 100 into a true office system.
Here scans made in the field can be recalled for measurement and annotation.

Mains power independence

Although surprisingly compact, the SD 100 housing finds room for a 12 Volt battery giving over one hour of scan time. When connected to a mains supply, a built-in charger keeps the battery charged and ready for use.

The battery compartment also contains the socket for connecting the SD 100 to a remote 12 volt supply, such as would typically be found in a motor vehicle.

Software

The SD 100 is loaded with software. Separate Obstetric and Gynecological packages, as well as the comprehensive Urology and Cardiology software, all have their own report pages.
Additionally, under the heading "Specials" are found software for Graf infant hip evaluation, as well as thyroid and volume measurements.

All these software packages are accessed by on-screen menus which are both clear and intuitive. This is to ensure that a first time user will have no difficulty extracting the maximum performance from this powerful portable.

Probes

Philips is well aware that of all the features found in an ultrasound system, image quality and resolution are undoubtedly the most important. For this reason the SD 100 accepts probes with the same high resolution as those used on the more expensive Philips scanners. These include the complete line of single and dual frequency curved and linear array probes, from the 6/8 MHz dual frequency abdominal curved array to the 7.7 MHz linear small-parts. All this adds up to a truly powerful portable.
