Respiratory Mechanics Module General Information
It's never been easier or more accurate
Marquette's Respiratory Mechanics (RM) Module provides easy to use spirometric
monitoring for continuous analysis of respiratory flow, pressure and volume parameters
during anesthesia and intensive care of ventilated patients. The RM flow sensor connects
to the patient's airway circuit and provides physiological information to the Solar®
monitoring system. The Solar monitor integrates the data and provides graphical display
for respiratory mechanics monitoring. The parameters directly measured and computed by the
RM module include respiratory flow, airway pressure, and volume. The system calculates
flow by measuring the pressure drop across a fixed orifice pneumotach in the breathing
circuit.
A solid state differential pressure transducer compensates for drift and temperature
and allows measurements at any altitude. The RM module allows the Solar monitor to
automatically input gas concentrations via the communications port so that appropriate
compensation can be made.
The RM module utilizes a differential pressure fixed orifice, single patient use, high
accuracy (3%) flow sensor to provide a breath-by-breath picture of the patient's
respiratory status. This unique flow sensor offers several key benefits: low cost,
moisture tolerant and requires no calibration. Continuous monitoring of flow and pressure
in the airway demands the simplicity and reliability of the Respiratory Mechanics Module. |
