Octanet Connectivity Device General Information

A Communication Bridge Between Peripheral Devices and Solar Monitors

The Octanet connectivity device provides a cost-effective means of integrating information from bedside devices into Marquette's SolarŪ monitors. Octanet can bring patient data (including digitized waveforms) from up to eight bedside devices into one monitoring system for easy assessment of the patient's condition. Once in the Solar monitor, the data from the peripheral devices is available to any hospital system.

Octanet offers "plug and play" connections through Device ID Cable Adapters (DIDCATM), which automatically identify a device as soon as it is connected. These optically isolated connections also protect the interface equipment from electrical interference, and meet essential safety requirements for devices used in proximity to patients.

Most third-party devices transmit data with an RS-232 interface. Octanet repackages this output and places it in the Solar monitor by a direct connection or a Tram-netŪ Multipurpose Interface Hub. When the Hub is used, two additional peripheral devices can be connected using Tram-net Interface Adapters (TIA), which brings the integrating potential to 10 devices.

Working with Solar monitor, Octanet effectively eliminates one of the last barriers to local device connectivity. It is now possible to integrate diverse types of patient data and deliver it to the healthcare provider when and where it's needed most.
