Responder 3000 Defibrillator General Information
The new Marquette Hellige Responder 3000 combines defibrillation therapy with advanced
diagnostic monitoring and data transfer capabilities
A fully integrated Defibrillator/Monitor is a key part of the
"chest-pain-concept": Timely recognition, diagnosis and treatment help reduce
myocardial infarction death rate significantly.
Heart disease today is one of the major causes of death across the world. Sudden
cardiac arrest and acute myocardial infarction together are two of the most frequent
out-of-hospital emergencies, where only the timely recognition, diagnosis and treatment of
these patients can save lives. In order to bring faster and more effective treatment of
these victims, Marquette Hellige has developed the Marquette Hellige Responder 3000, a new
defibrillator/monitor that combines advanced diagnostic monitoring and data transfer
capabilities.
The Marquette Hellige Responder 3000 is a defibrillator/monitor/recorder that offers a
wide range of parameter options and performance capabilities for emergency personnel in
hospital and outside of hospital. Additionally, the Marquette Hellige Responder 3000 has
been developed to offer customers the possibility of upgrading 'basic' units to add
further parameters like SpO2, etCO2, or 12 -lead ECG acquisition and interpretation, for
example, and thereby offers greater product longevity. "Since the start of this
project", says Nigel Kandzia, Business Development Manager Emergency Care Products,
"customers were telling us that they wanted a product that offered greater
flexibility for their needs today and for those needs of tomorrow. The Marquette Hellige
Responder 3000 really does fulfill their wishes."
The Marquette Hellige Responder 3000 features a large high resolution colour display
that can display up to 3 channels of ECG and vital sign information. It has a very
compact, lightweight and ergonomic form that affords emergency personnel easy handling in
all conditions. The Marquette Hellige Responder 3000 comes in high visibility yellow, so
that it can be easily identified and features a 3 channel 80mm printer as standard on all
models.
As the leading European-based manufacturer and distributor of medical equipment and
services for diagnostic cardiology, patient monitoring, emergency medical care and
clinical information systems, Marquette Hellige has been integrating new products into
MUSE, its hospital information system. As part of this integration, Marquette Hellige has
developed the 'Chest Pain Concept', that is directed to the early identification and
treatment of patients suffering acute myocardial infarction. This concept begins in the
out-of-hospital setting, where a 12 lead ECG is taken, thereby giving an as early as
possible diagnostic record, from which either treatment decisions may be made or
comparisons of later ECGs. When the patient arrives at the emergency department, they are
triaged either for admission to coronary care unit, chest pain unit observation, or
discharge. It is these middle risk (50-60%) patients that are kept in the 'chest pain
unit', usually a part of the emergency department, and they are continuously monitored for
symptoms, ST segment changes, cardiovascular vital signs, serial 12 lead ECGs and cardiac
biomarkers. If their condition evolves further and diagnosed as acute myocardial
infarction, they can be immediately treated. If no cardiac complaint is diagnosed, they
can be discharged or referred on as necessary. "The Marquette Hellige Responder 3000
has been developed to form the first link in this concept, and provide the necessary
diagnostic monitoring capabilities for the out-of-hospital emergency personnel", says
Nigel Kandzia.
The Marquette Hellige Responder 3000 significantly extends the emergency care product
offerings of Marquette Hellige. The CardioServ and CardioServ VF will continue to be sold
as high quality, reliable defibrillator/monitors where as the Marquette Hellige Responder
3000 now addresses some more advanced customer performance needs.
