E-Scribe/NT Data Management System Built upon the multi-tasking Windows NT operating system, the E-Scribe/NT is
capable of simultaneously receiving, storing, editing, and printing cardiology data in a
variety of formats. In order to provide optimum access to this data, the E-Scribe/NT is
designed to be integrated into existing local or wide area networks. This open
architecture insures that clinical data is readily available throughout a facility without
the costly installation of proprietary networks. With a data management system, future storage expansion and database
continuity is a concern. This is why the E-Scribe/NT offers base storage which will more
than satisfy present needs and low cost expansion options which will satisfy future
requirements. Further, the E-Scribe/NT features a daily incremental backup and a full
system backup which can be configured based on a departments policy. The E-Scribe/NT improves management of patient data through a rich set
of intuitive tools, configurable options and network wide access to cardiology data. These
features result in ready system use by all personnel, optimized process flow and data
access throughout an institution. The
E-Scribe/NT Server can also be integrated with a hospital information system through a
standard HL-7 implementation or through a customized interface. This integration
streamlines department activities such as order processing, billing and results reporting.
Efficient management of patient data is essential
in todays healthcare environment. The E-Scribe/NT Data Management System provides a
flexible and expandable approach to the management of ECG and related cardiology data.

The system's intuitive design provides step-by-step procedures which
guide the clinician to the next logical operation. To streamline data entry process,
on-line lists of reviewing physicians and diagnostic acronyms are available. Tools such as
on-screen calipers and serial comparison provide a means to quickly and efficiently assess
the data. Wherever possible, the E-Scribe/NT system attempts to present data in a format
that clinicians find familiar. For example, ECG data is presented on a high resolution
screen (1280 x 1024) just as it appears in standard printed form. The interpretation and
demographics can be edited through intuitive point and click operations on those same
fields.

Designed with the end users in mind, the E-Scribe/NT system offers the
flexibility to customize data flow and access at any time to meet changing needs. A custom
ID editor and site definition table allow for an institution to implement specific
protocols and partition the database in a logical manner. Different levels of access to
the system for different personnel are used to present only those options appropriate for
a given task. Automatic printing options can be configured to generate hard copies of the
data wherever appropriate within a facility. Backup of data can be performed on a schedule
determined by your department.

As wide and local area networks become more common in healthcare
facilities, patient data will become accessible at any point on those networks. In order
to maximize this potential, a data management system must implement a modern network
architecture. The E-Scribe/NT system is based upon a client-server architecture and can be
easily installed into exisiting networks or configured as a stand-alone network. Various
network protocols are supported including TCP/IP and IPX. This architecture provides the
flexibility to access cardiology data stored on the E-Scribe/NT Server anywhere on the
network where a Windows 95 or NT personal computer is installed.
