Lunar Corporation EXPERT-XL
Bone Densitometry Equipment

EXPERT-XL is LUNAR's most advanced densitometer delivering
top-of-the-line performance, including full vertebral morphometry.

.
EXPERT-XL is the world's first imaging densitometer, providing unprecedented bone densitometry breakthroughs in image resolution, precision, speed, flexibility, and reliability.

Resolution:
EXPERT-XL's near-radiographic quality images allow easy identification of vertebral structure and artifacts never before seen with densitometry. Sclerotic facets, endplate hypertrophy, and osteophytes in the spine can be visualized as can femoral features. EXPERT-XL's high-resolution images enable automatic, accurate morphometry of the thoracic and lumbar spine in seconds without the distortion inherent in radiographs and without the need for separate thoracic and lumbar films.

Precision:
LUNAR's long experience in bone densitometry has produced sophisticated algorithms that allow excellent precision (1.0%) for bone mineral density of the spine, femur, and total body without compromising diagnostic sensitivity. EXPERT-XL's automated QA procedure ensures consistent precision.

Speed:
EXPERT-XL performs conventional spine/femur imaging in only 6 seconds. Specific lateral images of the lumbar spine or morphometric images of the entire lateral spine from T5 to L4 can be obtained in 30 to 40 seconds. Total body images require less than 4 minutes.

Flexibility:
EXPERT-XL's motorized C-arm can be rotated easily for imaging at different angles, including the lateral spine in the supine position. EXPERT-XL's highly-automated software runs in Windows, simplifying operation and analysis.

Reliability:
EXPERT-XL uses a rotating anode x-ray tube and internal hydroxyapatite calibration. This ultrastable system provides decreased imaging time, precise results and increased reliability. A solid-state detector provides wide dynamic range, good spatial resolution, and long-term dependability.
